  • No quality control...

Another new 'Now' concept album, the second in a continuing series I'd imagine, of 100 song collections. This one follows on from 'Now 100 Hits 80's' which to be fair wasn't too bad a tracklist, although it's always gonna be stuff we've had a million times over. This collection of (loosely) themed Power Ballads is an OK selection but it has its issues. My main gripe is the lack of quality control when the Now team are putting these albums together. Two tracks in particular 'Missing You' by John Waite and 'The Living Years' by Mike + The Mechanics, have appalling starts, missing off the beginning of the songs completely. Also, what's with the edits? Another major problem I have with companies compiling these CDs. Mike + The Mechanics, The Scorpions, Meat Loaf and Jeff Buckley all suffer from being shortened and for no apparent reason as there are 6 CDs overall with plenty of free space left on each! Another tarnished 'Now' collection, does the person mastering or picking these tracks actually bother to listen to their choices before it goes to press? Poor showing ...again. ☹️ Just wait for the hashed Up 'Now 2' re-issue which will be nothing like its original 1984 counterpart and the senseless 'Now 2' bonus tracks on the upcoming 'Now 102' Utterly ridiculous.
  • Now That’s What I Call Commercial Radio!

Most, if not all, tracks on this album are played to death on commercial radio and/or more than likely in most people’s record collections already. Seems like a very cynical opportunity to cash in on Mother’s Day 2019. If Now is going to survive in the streaming era generic albums like this aren’t it. Sorry.
