I could have written the post by Blondebird, except that my Dad is now 90 and beginning to lose his memory. I have downloaded this song and others for him in an effort to stir what distant, and loving, memories remain. It has reminded me to do the same for my kids!
you were right Mum

In common with other reviewers, these tunes take me back to my childhood listening to my Mum singing along with them. How she loved Jim Reeves & how little I appreciated his wonderfully rich singing voice in those days. I'm 57 now & she is long gone but hearing these songs again, makes it feel like yesterday. These old songs have stood the test of time.
(I don't think she'd ever have changed her mind about Led Zeppelin)
jim reeves greatest hits
brought back so many memories of my mum she loved this singer and brought me up singing them to me.
Gosh, this takes me back to my childhood and my dad and I sitting listening to this. I even still know all the words and had a little tear in my eye thinking of my father - dead for 20 years now. I still have the original albums in the original sleeves. What a voice he has and so soothing to listen to.
If you are in your 40's you may remember this....

My Grandparents died recently and we went through their record collection.....as a 7 year old I spent many an hour listening to music in their car on the old 8-track stereo....Jim Reeves was their favourite........at the time I didn't appreciate the man but listen carefully and, even as a hard rock fan, you cannot be moved by his vocals. The man is a legend.
