  • Arguably her best

    By Brandoonnnnn
An incredibly strong sophomore album. Some of her best songs such as If I Ain't Got You feature on here. The songwriting is strong here and her musical and vocal skill is undoubtably some of the best there is.
  • Excellent!

One of my favourite albums in my collection! Every track is well produced, unique and creative. Excellent performances from Alicia. Love the classical undertones harking back to her past musical education and the silky smooth sounds.

This album from the start was a much better listen than Songs In A Minor its more effortless and classicly inspired the songs are smoother and flow more effortlessly although not as good as the element of freedom its without doubt better than her 1st and 3rd offering i really enjoyesd this album and its definitely a classic album and one to be had in anybody's collection.

I'll openly admit i love "As I Am" more than this. "If I Aint Got U" is 1 of my fave songs. Nice little album. "Nobody Not Really" is amazing!! i think its beautiful!! Some sound really similar... It's not bad though
  • A great follow up

After the immense Songs in A minor, it would have been hard for any artist to match it. Luckily Keys isn't just any artist. This album shows a lot of her variety, with songs like Dragon Days, You Don't Know My Name and Karma. Overall a welcome addition to the Keys library.
  • Evolution of Alicia

    By MJ Wannabe
What I love about Alicia is that with each album she radiates a different presence on her records, in other words, she puts a different kind of emotion into her music in each album. This album has a far more classical feel to it, with a few beautiful string arrangements linking tracks. Alicia diehards may disregard this classical style, but it's how she was taught as a musician, and the songs reach the same heights of quality as on Songs In A Minor. There is a run of songs from the soulful If I Was Your Woman through to the panting Dragon Days. Each song is a masterpiece, the killer tracks supplied in You Don't Know My Name, If I Ain't Got You and Diary, possibly the sweetest song Alicia has ever written. The album slows down in the second half, but there is still plenty to enjoy on this album and is well worth your attention. I love it, please buy!
