  • A true classic.

I wanted this album ever since I was four years old. Christina really did reinvent herself with this album. Dirrty, Beautiful and Fighter are just some of the greatest songs ever. All of the singles differentiate from each other, yet the whole album felt and still feels so integrated. Aguilera does not receive enough credit for her magnum-opus known as “Stripped”. If you are not a Christina Aguilera fan, you probably would still like this album. The themes of self-respect established on this album were so ahead of its time, and still relevant today. This was 2002 for crying out loud, and its message has not dated at all! The reviews at the time for this album were very critical and negative, which I believe was down to the controversy of the lead single Dirrty with the accompanying provocative video. However, time has passed and the public and the critics have seen this album for what it is: an essential and important album that is a “must-have for all households”!

I don't agree with the review at all. I feel Christina has finally found herself with this album, now she has creative control. Although I love Genie in a Bottle, this album really shows her growth as a woman. Yes, it is long and the intros are probably not needed, but this album has classic written all over it. I love how the album is pop but mixes some other influences, such as latin on 'Infatuation', a rock edge on 'Make Over' & 'Fighter', blues on 'Impossible' and R&B on 'Can't Hold Us Down' & 'Get Mine, Get Yours.' There are so many great moments on this album, it would take all day to go through them! Personal Favourites: Cruz, Walk Away, I'm Okay, Make Over, Beautiful, Infatuation & The Voice Within.

Incredibly raunchy Dirrrty, powerful Fighter, poignant Beautiful. The rest is pretty palatable too.
