  • Fine Album

Once again, a patronising editorial review by an iTunes minion who doesn’t seem to “get" the music genre. Anyone who looks at a Bonamassa album with a view to buying it expects “generic” blues songwriting, and to suggest even by implication that this constitutes a weakness is to miss the point. There is more originality on this album than on previous releases, and more thought has gone into the arrangements and sonics than before. If there is any possible criticism, it is that this complex and refined production might be a touch glossy for so-called “generic” blues. But this would be a silly quibble, itself rooted in a misinterpretation of what the Blues is about. Bonamassa has grown into an authentic bluesman, and this is an authentic blues album.

As always, another incredible album. Im 24 and find the music in the charts AWFUL, Joe Bonamassa is an absolute legend compared! Anyone who rates this album low isnt a true fan!!
  • I'm running out of superlatives!

This is the first album of Joe's that i have bought very close after the release date, simply because i only found out about his work this summer. Ballad of John Henry was, in my opinion, his best album and this is easily comparable. Driving blues rock, subtle bluesy lyrics and character to boot, Bonamassa has surpassed himself yet AGAIN!

Nothing new here, variations on a theme I became bored with 20 years ago.
  • Outstanding!

Great mix of songs, excellent solos and quality blues! One of the best albums I've bought in a long time.

Joe B is probably the best straightforward guitar player in the world today - he makes it cry, sing, wail, scream, caress. Superb album with nods to various of his heroes and probably the best Free song that they never wrote! He knows his business, it's business as usual and I'm a loyal customer.
  • Safe....

Nothing new for me, I'm afraid he may have lost his dirty raw edge. The album is very well written and produced as usual, but the songs are quite forgettable and very similar to previous album tracks, unfortunately not particularly good ones. Bring back the "Black rock" and "Ballad of" stuff! Seems to me Joe has found his following, and judging by this album, they're in their 60's!! Disappointing.
